OVERVIEW

Research Background

The human body is composed of approximately 37 trillion cells. These cells can be damaged daily due to cell turnover, injuries, diseases, and aging. Stem cells are unique cells that repair damaged cells. They have the remarkable ability to differentiate into various types of cells and possess substantial regenerative power.

 

Recent research has shown that stem cell culture supernatant, which is secreted during the culturing of stem cells, contains thousands of growth factors. Using this supernatant can promote the regeneration of cellular tissues within the body, offering therapeutic effects comparable to those of stem cell transplantation therapy.

Invention of New Culture Supernatant, Patent Application Filed

In a joint research project spanning approximately two years since August 2021, we succeeded in creating a culture supernatant with enhanced cellular activity compared to conventional stem cell culture supernatants. This represents a significant invention in our pursuit of practical application as a therapeutic formulation. We have filed a patent for this new culture supernatant as a "cell activator."

 

Furthermore, starting in August 2023, we plan to establish an experimental system for large-scale cultivation of this supernatant and initiate mass cultivation experiments. We are advancing the development towards the formulation of stem cell culture supernatants.

Research and Development Toward Formulation

U-Factor Co., Ltd., a drug discovery venture aiming to formulate therapeutic drugs targeting intractable diseases such as Alzheimer's disease using deciduous tooth-derived pulp stem cell culture supernatant, has entered into a joint research agreement with AIST Solutions, Inc. (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Seiji Osaka), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), Japan's largest public research institution (Tokyo headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Kazuhiko Ishimura). The joint research began in September 2023.
